new 'do

So I got a haircut today. The first in over a year. Over a year people! That's crazy for me (holly I miss you!). But it was time for a little snip snip and have something different look at me in the mirror for a while. (ps....trying to take a picture of yourself is pretty hard! oh, and don't judge me for the incredible mess behind me...)

hopscotch...

The girls busted out the hopscotch pads this week to play. And of course the little brother had to get in the middle of everything!
he's pretty good...but he needs to work on his hopping...

I think this picture is so cute...and the best part is that one of the girls took it! I turned on the camera today and found these pictures (and about a million others of just the different numbers......and little girl feet)

leaf fun

We had to rake the leaves....again. And while I was raking, this is what Meg did.
buried her brother in leaves....

and then she ran inside to get the camera to take pictures of him. (he's so cute!)

And yes, check out those huge piles! There's another one on the side of the house too! Insane. We're talking all these leaves fell in about 2 wks. crazy. but I think I'm done raking for this year.

down on the farm

Finally it was Mia's turn for her trip to the farm. She had a blast! It was a real, working farm with real, working smells! Peee-U! Turkeys smell awful, just in case you wanted to know.

you can't really tell in this picture, but Mia's holding hands with BOTH of the boys next to her....sassy little girl.

pumpkermelon

ever seen a Pumpkermelon? Well that's what we're calling this beauty. Each of the kids/parents got to pick one out at the farm, and this is the one I picked. I thought it had a lot of character.

we carved it today...i wasn't going to let it rot on me, like the others...

I love the green/orange stripes!

(can you tell it's winking?)

Happy Halloween!

Ahoy!

Arg! Happy Halloween! (warning...lots of pictures to follow)

This was the first year that my kids decided to come up with their costumes themselves. I wanted them all to be m&m's, but they rebelled. Megan wanted to be a "girl pirate". And luckily I convinced Mia to go along with the idea. Their costumes turned out cuter than I had expected.
our little pirate family

Ahoy matey!

my little pirates!

one-eyed Jack

pirate po-pea!

crazy mateys....off on a treasure hunt!

matey meggie moo

thar she blows!

checking out the treasure map...

even though they're fearsome pirates...they still love each other

oh no! the booty is getting away!

I'm pretty proud of their shirts....I thought they turned out super cute

trick-or-treating was wet. it started sprinkling right before we went out, but we didn't get too wet. luckily the girls are happy with just a little candy. we only went to about twelve houses on our block.

so cute. mia's much braver than meg, and she lead them up to all the houses and knocked.

even Captain Mommy got into the action...(that's my treasure in the bowl! we didn't hardly any trick-or-treaters...maybe they all went by while we were out)

kindergarten halloween party

Here's Meg's class party. It was a little pathetic if you ask me. Hardly ANY of the parents contributed and sent things in. The kids didn't even get trick-or-treat bags! Good thing they didn't notice or care, but next party I'll make sure I contribute more. But I think Meg had a good time showing her little brother and sister off to her friends. Mia loved being part of the party too.

And Jackson? Well he just made himself right at home at the tables. (and took another little girl's cat hat)

and he wasted no time finding the toys in the room...

Mia's halloween parade

Mia had her halloween parade this week at preschool. Each of the kids got to make a different headband, and Mia has been talking about her "butterfly headband" all week long!

here she is with her "squash pumpkin" (as she likes to call it...)

Mia's ballet class was allowed to dress up this week for halloween. Mia decided that instead of wearing her halloween costume, she'd wear her green tutu!

video video

Here are two videos of Mia's class singing a halloween song. It's amazing the difference between Megan and Mia. Last year Meg wouldn't sing at all, and as you can see Mia is very enthusiastic!

isn't this the best

face you've seen all week??

he's so cute!

kindergarten field trip to farm

It just isn't fall without a trip to the farm! Meg was really looking forward to this field trip. It had to be rescheduled twice because of all the rain we've had this month. But finally!
I was a chaperone (wow...I feel so grown up!) I had 4 kids in my group and they were all so good!

silly kids.... I love Meg's face!

Farmer Stan talked to the kids for a few minutes and taught them all about the different kinds of pumpkins and squash. It was very interesting. We also learned "Hay is for eatin', straw is for sleepin"
